Documents and Training

Any business will at some point have to deal with an employment law issues. Whether its responding to a grievance, dealing with employee ill-health absence or a redundancy and reorganisation exercise it is important to ensure that your documents and staff training are up to date so they know how to deal with issues as they arise. I can review and update your employment documentations, such as employment contracts and staff handbooks, and provide training to your staff in how to handle grievances and disciplinary procedures.

Responding to complaints

How an employer deals with initial complaints can determine whether its resolved simply and quickly or becomes a long and complex issue taking up time and resources. I am able to advice for an early stage how to respond to grievances raised by employees or complaints and appeals about disciplinary proceedings to give your business the best chance of resolving disputes early. If that is not possible and the dispute results in litigation I can draft a response to the claim and advise and represent your business at the employment tribunal or in settlement negotiations through ACAS. In most disputes if you have HR staff or someone who is used to dealing with these issues, we can deal with the claim together without the need for solicitors.

Mediation

Most employment disputes can be resolved through negotiation and discussion between the parties, but it often helps if an outside party can mediate in difficult disputes. This is something that can be done at any stage of the process, but it may be helpful to attempt this before the dispute has escalated to litigation, during the grievance process or before any appeal. I can help as an outside party to sit down between the parties and attempt to agree a way forward at an early stage
